Welcome the quiet guardians of the night with the WildYard Single Chamber Bat House in black, a compact, stylish roost designed to support the UK’s native bat species. Ideal for attracting common pipistrelles, soprano pipistrelles, and brown long-eared bats, this bat box offers a safe, sheltered space for daytime rest and seasonal roosting. These insect-eating allies help control garden pests naturally, making them a vital part of any wildlife-friendly space.

Single-chamber boxes are perfect for smaller groups or exploratory bats, and may attract larger numbers of bats to take up residence in nearby double and multi-chamber boxes, buildings or cavities in trees. Still, the single chamber remains a brilliant entry point for encouraging bat activity, especially in urban or compact gardens.

Bats begin scouting for temporary, overnight roosts in early spring, with peak usage from May to September when they are highly active looking for food and raising young. Some may even overwinter if the conditions are warm and stable enough. The black finish helps absorb heat, creating a cosy microclimate that supports bat wellbeing.

  • Dimensions approx. Height 15 inches (38cm); Width 9 inches (23cm); Depth 4 inches (10cm)
  • Mount the box at least 4 metres high on a building or pole, avoid positioning on trees to deter predators
  • South or southeast-facing for warmth and visibility
  • Best installed in early autumn to allow bats time to locate it before winter, or in early spring
