The bird of paradise is such an eye-catching plant and I'm lucky enough to have seen them growing in their native South Africa. Each flower is a miracle as it unfolds from the rubbery sheath at the top of the stalk, its brilliant orange complimented by blue-purple and white at the base of the petals. This cheerful and dramatic card really does the plant justice and would delight gardeners and non-gardeners alike to receive it.
