Dried Blue Fescue Grass Bunch

While most dried grasses turn golden or beige, Blue Fescue (*Festuca glauca*) is unique. It retains its stunning, steely-blue/grey colouration even after drying, offering a rare, natural cool tone without the need for artificial dyes.

The stems are fine, needle-like, and architectural, topped with delicate flowering panicles that look like a blue-green mist. This is the perfect grass for adding a "frosty" or coastal feel to arrangements. It acts as a fantastic cooling counterpoint to warm oranges and pinks, or blends seamlessly into a modern, minimal Scandi interior.

🌿 About these Stems

These are the air-dried stems of Festuca glauca. They are harvested in early summer when the blue pigment is at its most intense.

The Texture: The stems are stiff and wiry, not floppy. The flower heads are airy and open. This makes them excellent for adding structure and "spikiness" to a bouquet without adding bulk.

🎨 Styling Ideas

Blue Fescue is a versatile texture that works in many themes:

  • The Coastal Vase: Mix with white Statice, dried Sea Holly (Eryngium), and Bunny Tails for a breezy, beach-house look.
  • The Winter Frost: Its cool grey tones make it perfect for winter wreaths. Pair with white Helichrysum and silver foliage for an "ice queen" theme.
  • The Contrast: Use it to cool down a hot arrangement. If you have a lot of orange or yellow dried flowers, adding Blue Fescue makes the colours sing without clashing.

🟦 Adding Cool Tones

Perfect Dried Companions

Enhance the cool tones by pairing with these stems:

  • ☁️ Dried Gypsophila (White): The Snowy Mix. The pure white clouds of Gypsophila mixed with the steel-blue Fescue create a very elegant, clean, and modern look.
  • 🟠 Dried Physalis (Chinese Lanterns): The Fire & Ice. The vibrant orange lanterns of Physalis look incredible against the blue-grey background of the grass. A striking contemporary contrast.

⚠️ Colour Note
This is a natural product, not dyed. The colour can vary from silvery-blue to greenish-grey depending on the harvest. To preserve the blue tone, keep away from direct, strong sunlight which can fade it to straw.
