Discovered near Istanbul in 1891 by plant collector Mary Ann Robb – who famously transported it home in a hatbox – this quietly brilliant perennial has earned its place in many British gardens. Euphorbia robbiae, also known as 'Mrs Robb’s Bonnet', forms a spreading carpet of leathery, dark green foliage that remains semi-evergreen in most conditions.
In winter and early spring, its rosettes provide structure and ground cover, while sprays of lime-green bracts appear in late spring, catching the light and adding a fresh lift to shaded borders. By summer, the foliage retains its glossy texture and deep colour, offering a handsome foil to brighter blooms. It’s especially useful in dry shade and beneath trees, where few plants thrive so reliably.
- Prefers partial to full shade; excellent in dry, rooty areas
- Well-drained, humus-rich; tolerates poor or chalky soils
- Cut back faded flower stems in autumn; wear gloves (sap is irritant)

If you wish to cancel your order you must return the items back to us within 14 days of the cancellation. We regret that items received after this time will be refused and sent back to you.
You are responsible for the safe return of products to us, including the cost of doing so. It is recommended that you insure your return parcel in case of loss or damage.
